After United Way of Greater Toledo and the Lucas County Mental Health Board identify a need for a comprehensive and centralized emergency mental health service, the agencies designate Rescue as the preferred hotline and short-term crisis counseling services provider.
Rescue becomes the County’s single-point emergency mental health service.
After receiving a federal block grant by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, Rescue becomes Lucas County’s single emergency entry point into the mental health system.
Rescue expands to serve children and adolescents.
Rescue’s responsibilities grow to provide crisis intervention, diagnostic assessment, individual and group counseling, pharmacological management, and residential crisis stabilization for individuals under 18 years old.
Rescue introduces centralized access and community-based stabilization.
Rescue creates the Central Access and Community Based Stabilization programs to provide a central assessment and referral points and to assist clients in avoiding hospitalization and maintaining stability at home.
Rescue establishes Recovery Helpline and Urgent Behavioral Healthcare.
Rescue initiates Recovery Helpline to provide 24/7 access to mental health and substance use services, and Urgent Behavioral Healthcare to provide same-day access to mental health assessments, treatment, and medication prescriptions for new and existing patients.
