Rescue employs a process called triage to determine which walk-in clients require the most immediate medical attention. That means it’s possible that someone arriving after you could be seen before you. Please know that our goal is to see you as quickly as possible.

How it works.

Urgent Behavioral Healthcare is available for individuals with moderate-to-severe mental health issues or those in need of immediate addiction treatment services.

Licensed professionals staffing the Recovery Hotline evaluate callers’ intervention requirement using the Global Appraisal of Individual Needs Short Screener (GAIN-SS) instrument. Rescue clinicians also consider the caller’s mental health background (if available), frequency and severity of described symptoms, reported overall physical health, and medication history.

Should a clinician learns that a caller is merely seeking information regarding area services, Rescue can schedule intake appointments at participating agencies via a centralized scheduling system.

Otherwise, the clinician determines whether a face-to-face response is warranted and, if so, whether the client should receive attention in the field or at Rescue’s office.

During the intervention, a nurse practitioner evaluates whether the client requires short-term services (such as temporary medication management), ongoing services through a provider agency, or hospitalization.
